Message from UKWOT Founder Dave Webb
“I need to thank all of our amazing volunteers … they are the cogs of the UKWOT family and without them, we simply would not be able to do what we do! It does not matter if they do an hour a week or 40 hours .. they are all as important to us. The past year or so has seen many challenges, many changes not least a complete dismantle and rebuild of a brand new rehabilitation centre, which seen us recycle much material for reuse in the new centre.
The new centre has been very successful, and especially so in the past year with 40 otters being cared for, some for a weeks babysitting and others the full term rehab process and 27 released back to the wild where they belong! There is no question that we have secured our place as the most successful specialist Eurasian otter cub rehabilitation centre in the country.
Interestingly, we tend to not be drawn into the “protocol” that are around regarding otter rehabs and instead use our own methods. These methods have been over whelming and successful beyond our hopes with a 100% success rate for our releases and a huge 91% for getting the cubs to the rehab stages! I am very proud of what we have done and continue to do but also very mindful that none of this could be possible without our volunteer team so a huge thank you to them all!
Onwards and upwards .. 2022 gives us new challenges as we already have 11 animals in and its only March!! …….
THAANK YOU ALL & THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT HAS SUPPORTED US AND CONTINUE TO DO SO WITH DONATIONS!!”
