PINE MARTEN RESCUE CENTRE
We now have the facilities to rehabilitate pine martens and return them to the wild.
Here at UKWOT, we’re best known for our work with orphaned otter cubs, but recently our phone lines have been ringing for another kind of creature. Pine martens – a distant relative to the otter, and somewhat similar to the untrained eye.

Pine martens (Martes martes) are elusive, cat-sized members of the mustelid family, which includes otters, weasels and badgers. With prominent ears, chocolate-brown fur, sharp claws and a distinctive cream-yellow chest bib, they are stealthy, acrobatic hunters well accustomed to wooded areas and overgrown gardens. They’re classed as critically endangered, but with recent releases back into the wild, we’re starting to see more about.

How to get in touch
We’ve built an enclosure to support pine martens, and are currently equipping the interior in anticipation of care. This rehabilitation won’t take away from the otter cub work, and is situated separately at the same headquarters.
