Since 2016, UKWOT has helped save over 200 otters. Our charity has grown massively in the last 3 years alone and with the increased demand we see the need for a new, larger otter rehabilitation centre. 🦦
As part of a 5 year plan we have purchased 4 acres of land, including a wildflower meadow. The new centre will act as a sister site to our current centre. 🪻
Our new site will not only be a place for the rehabilitation of rescued otters, but will also have strong elements of sustainability and biodiversity – the existing wildflower meadow will be maintained, a wildlife pond will be created and 500 native trees planted. 🌳
Our new centre will have 25 enclosures, volunteer building and 4 cub buildings. Along with our current centre it will provide UKWOT with:
🦦 45 specialist enclosures
🦦 4 outdoor cub isolation buildings each being able to hold a minimum of 6 cubs
🦦 6 indoor cub rooms
🦦 A total capacity for approximately 80 otters
