We are thrilled to share some exciting news: the UK Wild Otter Trust (UKWOT) has been nominated to take part in the December 2025 charity poll hosted by My Favourite Voucher Codes (MFVC). Who we are
At UKWOT, our mission is clear: we rescue, rehabilitate and release orphaned and injured Eurasian otters, and we work tirelessly to promote a deeper understanding of this remarkable native species.
Based in North Devon, we operate the UK’s largest specialist otter rehabilitation centre: 19 outdoor enclosures, 5 indoor cub rooms, a cub hospital and two isolation units. We rehabilitate around 20 otters per year, with each cub’s rehabilitation costing in excess of £3,500.
Because all our team are volunteers, and because we lean on the generosity of our supporters, every pound raised goes directly into the care of otters and into our wider conservation and education work.
Why this poll matters
By participating in the MFVC December poll, we have the chance to secure a one-off injection of funds — 20% of the month’s profits from MFVC. According to MFVC’s model, the public votes for one of the nominated charities and the winner receives the donation.
For us, winning this poll would mean more resources to:
- rescue orphaned and injured otter cubs from around the UK
- rehabilitate cubs – it takes around 1 year!
- release rehabilitated otters back into the wild and post-release monitor them, including camera traps and support feeding
- create our new specialist otter rehabilitation centre, after being given notice on our current land
