Earlier this month, a tiny otter cub was found on the side of a busy motorway in North Hereford. A member of the public had pulled over to change a flat tyre when they spotted the tiny, vulnerable otter cub. 🚙
They acted quickly and contacted Woody’s Wildlife Rescue, who in turn reached out to the us at the UK Wild Otter Trust. The little otter cub, aptly named Diesel, is now safe and settling in at our dedicated rehabilitation centre in Devon, where he will stay for approximately one year. 🦦
It’s unclear exactly what happened to Diesel’s mother, but given the location where he was found, it’s sadly possible she may have been struck by a vehicle. UKWOT founder Dave Webb said, “Otter cubs simply can’t make it alone at this stage in their development. We’re incredibly grateful to the quick-thinking member of the public and to Woody’s Wildlife Rescue for ensuring Diesel got the urgent help he needed.” 💔
It costs around £3500 to rescue, rehabilitate and release back into the wild one otter cub. With around 30 otter cubs coming through our doors every year, every kind donation makes a difference. ❤️
Our Spring Fundraiser ends tomorrow at midday. Please donate if you can to help support Diesel’s rehabilitation.
