We are searching for a communications officer to join our communications team at the UK Wild Otter Trust (UKWOT). UKWOT is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and no one within the charity is paid. Please find more information below.
We are looking for people who can commit to at least 4 hours a week, however variations can be discussed.
Volunteer Role Descriptions
Volunteer Communications Officer (Social Media)
We are looking for a volunteer to focus on creating content for UKWOT’s social media accounts, focusing on content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, BlueSky and LinkedIn and working alongside our video content creator who creates content for TikTok and Instagram Reels. The volunteer would also be involved in the Communications team as a whole and may be asked to help with other tasks outside of content creation.
The role would include:
- Working alongside existing volunteers to create content, schedule posts, community engagement and review analytics for UKWOT’s social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, BlueSky, TikTok, Linkedin and YouTube). Ensuring the charity’s social media policy is followed.
- Creating engaging, informative, and educational graphics and videos for use across the charity.
- Helping with other tasks within the charity where needed.
What are we looking for?
- A passion for animals and conservation and a good knowledge of UKWOTs work or willingness to learn.
- Experience managing social media channels.
- Excellent IT skills, including experience using canva.
- Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills, with ability to design, create and implement content specifically for a range of social media platforms that engages audiences and drives brand awareness and growth.
- Excellent written English, oral communication, and interpersonal skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication skills are extremely important as we are a small team that volunteers remotely.
- A collaborative team-player, while also able to work well independently.
- This position is remote and would require you to have access to a computer and internet access.
